DESCRIPTION

Compact Control Palette

Display the combined Control Palette (mixed Character and Paragraph). See Compact control palette.

Character submenu

Characters Palette...

Display the Character Palette. See Character palette.

Choose Style...

Display the dialog box to choose a character style. Note: you can use the one in the toolbar.

Plain

Remove bold or italic (if applied). See Apply or remove italic/boldface.

Italic

Set highlighted text to italic. See Apply or remove italic/boldface.

Bold

Set highlighted text to bold. See Apply or remove italic/boldface,

Underline

Set highlighted text to underline. See Underline or strike out of text.

Outline

Set highlighted text to outline. See Outline characters.

Shadow

Set highlighted text to shadow. See Applying soft drop shadow on text.

Blind

Set highlighted text to hidden. See the Notes mode / Blind text chapter.

Small Caps

Set highlighted text to small caps. See Change type case.

All Caps

Set highlighted text to all caps. See Change type case.

Web Only

Set highlighted text to Web only. See Route parts of text only to Web channel.

Print Only

Set highlighted text to print only. See Route parts of text only to print edition.

Delete Current Character Style

Delete the character style applied on the highlighted block of text from the current format. WARNING: this is a global change. Make sure you know what you are doing! See Delete a style from the style library.

Expand Character Style

Expand applied character style in tags - allow you to review the style without going to EdAdmin. See Review a style.

Update/Create Character Style From Selection

Update or create character style from selection. See Create a new character style from the selection.

Clear Character Overrides in Selection

Remove all character-level changes in the selection. See Text formatting of character type.

Clear Character and Style Overrides in Selection

Remove all type changes including styles in selection.

Clear Character Overrides in Paragraph

Remove all type changes in the current paragraph.

Clear All Formatting

Remove all formatting.

Selected Element with Placeholder Text

Headline with Highlighted Text, Subheadline with Highlighted Text, Photo Caption with Highlighted Text.

Fill the highlighted article element with dummy text.

Copy the highlighted text from the current article element to the specified element.

Insert Auto byline

Insert a top byline in the text you're editing. See Add the byline.

Insert Date

Insert the current date.

Insert Picture Caption

Insert the picture caption in the current text, overwriting the existing caption. See Reload image caption for an article image.

Insert Rule Filler submenu

Perform the specified operations on a rule filler in text.

Perform the specified operations on an inline image in text.

Hor. SHIFT...

Insert horizontal shift on the current position in text.

Select Format...

Display the dialog box to change text format. See Apply a format on text.

Refresh Formats

Reloads all formats from database (useful after a change on the system level). See Refreshing formats after a change.

Pick Formatting

Copy the formatting from the highlighted text or current paragraph. See Copy and paste formatting with eyedropper.

Paste Formatting

Apply the copied formatting to the highlighted text or current paragraph. See Copy and paste formatting with eyedropper.

Show GNML tags

Display GNML tags in text. See Turn on and off tags in the source view.
