You can use the Eyedropper tool to copy character and paragraph attributes, and then apply those attributes to selected text or entire paragraph. Please note that there are two Eyedropper tools: the one that picks attributes (fred_eydropper_pick), and the one that applies attributes (fred_eydropper_apply).

To copy attributes

Click in the text that is formatted with the attributes you want to copy and then click the Eyedropper tool fred_eydropper_pick. There is no need to select text - the character level attributes are copied from the position of I-beam.

To apply character-level attributes on the selected text

Select the text you want to format with the Eyedropper, and then click the Eyedropper tool fred_eydropper_apply.

The selection takes on the character-level attributes, loaded in the Eyedropper. Paragraph-level attributes are not applied. To apply also the paragraph-level attributes, press and hold SHIFT while clicking the Eyedropper tool fred_eydropper_apply.

To apply character-level and paragraph-level attributes on the entire paragraph

Click anywhere in the paragraph you want to format with the Eyedropper, and then click the Eyedropper tool fred_eydropper_apply.

The entire paragraph takes on the character- and paragraph-level attributes, loaded in the Eyedropper.

To apply only the paragraph-level attributes on the entire paragraph

Click anywhere in the paragraph you want to format with the Eyedropper, press and hold SHIFT and then click the Eyedropper tool fred_eydropper_apply.

The entire paragraph takes on the paragraph-level attributes, loaded in the Eyedropper. Character-level attributes are not applied.

Note

By default, the Eyedropper copies all character-level and paragraph-level attributes.
