You can place graphics in an article, on a page, or on a publishing destination.

You can place graphics from any folder to which you have access, providing you have permissions to modify the target page, publishing destination or article.

The same graphics can be placed any number of times on different publishing destinations, page layers and articles.

Placing graphics in an article

When you place a graphic in an article, a new photo caption text element is added to the article, referencing the graphic. Placing methods are similar as ones to place a graphic on a page. See Place images in an article and also Reload image caption for an article image, Dropping multiple wire or archived images on an article and Controlling drag and drop in article images.

Placing a graphic on a page

When you place a graphic on a page, it gets linked to a page layer and displayed on page.

A graphic without clipping path can be placed on an empty space on page (in that case, it is placed in the original size; you can scale it later), or can replace a image placeholder or another image (in that case it is adjusted to the placeholder size). You need to place a graphic with a clipping path on an empty space on page because in replacing placeholder it would loose the clipping path.

You can place graphic also in TedExtra on a read-only page, where the layout changes are locked, but you can modify text or graphic content.

You can also drop a graphic over a placeholder and a caption frame - in that case the IPTC caption is copied in the frame. Moreover, you can drop multiple graphics on multiple placeholders and caption frames.

A graphic with clipping path must be dropped on an empty space on page, and not over a placeholder - otherwise, the clipping path would not be applied.

Information about the graphic link is available as soon as the layer is saved.

See Create a image placeholder on a page, Add a image placeholder to the article layout, Split a image placeholder on page, Place a wire image on a page by drag and drop, Place multiple graphics of an article to a page, Image duplicates control.

Placing a graphic on a publishing destination

When you place a graphic on a publishing destination, it gets linked to that destination and can be published on the related channel.
