Ensure that the lock to grid is turned on. See Toggle lock to the page baseline grid in Fred4. If it's turned on, but the grid still does not work, check the Fred4 configuration as in Configuring your Fred4 to use page baseline grid. If configuration is ok, check the grid values as in Setting up the page baseline grid on a master by modules or Setting up the page baseline grid on a layer using modules. |
Typical problems can be: •Grid steps are not even: ensure that your modules are multiple of baseline steps, and that vertical nudge corresponds to the baseline steps. •Grid steps are different than expected: ensure that layer nudge/modules do not override the master ones - if the master ones were expected. See Applying master nudge on a layer. •Objects are aligned well, but text is not: ensure the following: oThere's a typographical grid set up in the current text format or style. oThe value is compatible with the page baseline grid value. oThere are no applied styles that turn off the typographical baseline grid. •The last line of text won't fit in the frame: ensure the following: oThere's a typographical grid set up in the current text format or style. oThe grid value corresponds to the text leading and the text leading has no variable parts (2nd and 3rd >ld...< parameters). oThere are no tags that add extra leading (>eld...<, >a...<, or >bld..< oThere are no applied styles that turn off the typographical baseline grid. oThe frame height is exact multiple of the grid value. oThe leading is identical to the grid value. oThe Leading at top is turned off. oThe grid offset corresponds to the grid value. If all of previous is correct, then reduce the grid offset for 1 or 10 millipoints, e.g. if it was 10pt, put it to 9.99pt. This should restore the normal text flow and put the last line in the frame. The leading in that part of text is not the same as the typographical baseline grid. Check in text Check tags >ld... and >grid... The leading value has to correspond to the grid value. Check in styles (if any) Check tags >ld... and >grid... The leading value has to correspond to the grid value. Check in format defaults Open the text format in EdAdmin4 (Editorial Configuration > Formats, select the typography and then double-click a format). Click the Paragraph button. On the Gen tab of the palette, review the value in Check tags >ld... and >grid... The leading value has to correspond to the grid value.. On the V.Just tab of the palette, review the value in Value, under Grid alignment. Both values must be the same. |
This is by design - the lock to the baseline grid works only when a text flows in one or more frames. |
