Highlight in text
•Drag the I-beam cursor over a character, word, or an entire text block to highlight it.
•On the Edit menu, point to Select, and then select the option you want.

About visible and invisible text
In version 2.1.2438 or newer
When performing the "select all" operation while editing text in a frame on page, and the text is longer than the frame, or the article flows on more than one page, since the version 2.1.2438, whole text including the invisible part will be selected. This temporary solution automatically opens a sidebar window (Text Editor) and selects all text.
The opening of the sidebar window happens when you press CTRL+A and:
•The linked or local text is longer than the frame.
•The linked text is flowing on more pages (jump article).
The opening of the sidebar window does not happen when you press CTRL+A and:
•The linked or local text is shorter than the frame.
In versions prior to 2.1.2438
the part of text that is not displayed in the frame won't be selected. To be able to select it, open the text in the Source pane - Text Editor pane, and then you can select the entire text.
About deselecting
•If you click in the highlighted block of text, it gets deselected.
•If you move the scrollbar of the WYSIWYG pane on the Articles main tab, the text gets deselected.
What's in the 'Select' menu?
The menu includes highlighting of entire text, of the current paragraph (including the paragraph mark and the formatting), of the current sentence, of the current word, or of entire block which is formatted in the same way; also extending selection to a word to the left or right, to the beginning or end of a line, and to the beginning or end of the text.
About including end-of-paragraph sign ¶
When highlighting a paragraph by mouse, you may choose to highlight it with or without final end-of-paragraph sign ¶. If you want to move a paragraph elsewhere, or include the paragraph formatting in the selection, then include the paragraph mark.
What's not supported
•The extended selection (click, move the cursor elsewhere, press SHIFT and then click again) is not supported in Ted4 / Fred4, but it is supported in the Articles editor on User Browser.
•"Column mode" selection is not supported.
•Selecting of 'overset' text by mouse is not supported.
