Note: you can create or edit a format only if you have appropriate permissions on the parent typography. See Permissions on formats and styles for detailed information.
Creating a format from scratch is one of three possible ways to create a new format. Typically, you will create a format from scratch in a new GN4 system when starting the formatting setup.
It includes the following steps:
Alternatively, you can create a new format by copying an existing format, or import it from an intermediary file.
Before you start to create formats, ensure that the default font for body text and the hyphenation are installed on your PC.
Create a format from scratch
1.Display the list of formats as explained in View formats in EdAdmin4.
2.On the Format menu, click New.
3.In Name, specify an unique name for the new format.
4.In Description, specify the optional comment.
5.In Typography, select the typography.
6.Proceed to Assign format to an article element type.
7.Continue with Add, Replace and Remove Libraries.
Create a format as a copy of an existing format
1. | Select a source format, and then on the Format menu, click Copy. |
2. | In Name, specify an unique name for the new format. |

Edit a format
1.Display the list of formats as explained in View formats in EdAdmin4.
2.Select a format to edit, and then on the Format menu, click Edit.
Rename a format
1.Select a format to edit, and then on the Format menu, click Edit.
2.In Name, specify the new name.
