Change paragraph leading

1.Place the cursor in the paragraph where you want to change the leading. If you want to set the leading on more paragraphs, select those paragraphs.
2.On the Type menu, point to Paragraph, and then click Paragraph Palette.
3.In Leading, enter the appropriate value expressed in any allowed typographical measurement unit.

Note

Since the version 2.3 you can also specify the percentage based leading for type, for example, 130%. See also Auto-leading (2.3 or newer) and Default auto-leading.

Important

The leading changes are subject to the lock to the baseline grid. See Paragraph leading and lock to the baseline grid.

To increase leading, step-by-step, by keys, press CTRL + comma.

To decrease it, press ALT + comma.

To clear all such changes, press SHIFT + CTRL + ALT + comma.

Alternatively, press CTRL+ALT+Right arrow, and then click Leading. Do one of the following:

•To increase leading, press ALT+Right Arrow.

•To decrease it, press ALT+Left Arrow

•To clear all such changes, press CTRL+ALT+Left Arrow.

Note

The leading changes for the steps, defined in increments. See Configure personal preferences for increments and Configure global increments for step-by-step formatting adjustments.

Important

The leading changes are subject to the lock to the baseline grid. See Paragraph leading and lock to the baseline grid.

Note

Leading is a paragraph attribute, which means that you can apply only one leading value within the same paragraph. If you change the current leading, it applies to the entire paragraph (or all selected paragraphs).
