The Opening sub-tab on the Extra tab of the preferences dialog box on the Pages main tab in Fred4 contains additional page opening-time and other preferences. All the preferences are personal (per-user) setting.

Preference	Description
Auto-close navigator on page opening	Untick if you want that navigator remains visible after you opened a page. Recommended: unticked
Auto-warn on layers in use when opening pages	Tick, to get an automatic warning about page layers in use by other users when you open a page. Recommended: ticked
Double-click opens a new page in a separate tab	Tick to avoid that more pages open in the same multi-page window. Recommended: unticked
Leave Empty Search..	Tick, to have Pages navigator empty after the startup. Recommended: unticked.
Sync Navigator with the Current Page	Defines the behavior when the current page does not belong to the list of pages, displayed in navigator..
Zoom after opening	Select the zoom of a page after the opening.
Sort Pages by	Enter a reserved sort code to sort pages in the multi-page view.
Center Page in the View	Tick, to increase the pasteboard width to center a page in the view.
Warn When Saving Pages...	Tick, to be warned when saving a page that has the less elements than it had them when you opened it.
Apply Auto-actions When Saving Page	Tick, to change the workstate automatically on opening, saving and closing page (needs to be configured!)
