78_add frame_16 Head and  Body tool

Use the head and body tool to draw a headline and body frames at once.

Select the tool, or press the H key, and then, on the page, drag an area on the designated position.

The headline takes the top part of the area, according to your personal split preferences (see Preferred headline heights), and the body columns the bottom part - split in the default number of columns.

If the subhead height is defined in your personal preferences, the subhead frame is added between head and body.

Note: If you press and hold CTRL during dragging (before releasing the mouse button), the Head and Body tool draws a headline, body frames and a image box.

Note

Since the version 2.2, the text frame tools can apply a personalized default format to the new created frames. See Set custom default format for a frame.

Fred4 first determines over how many columns you dragged the selection, and the default column width (reading from the current master page), and then draws the headline and body frames. The body frames width is exactly the default column size. Please note that on pages with an irregular grid, e.g. different column widths, Fred4 uses the column width as specified as default in the current master page.
