Articles workspace offers two panes (source and WYSIWYG) and three views of a textual content of an article.
It is displayed on the source pane, and it displays text in a continuous stream, wrapping it at the text window, or on the predefined number of characters (Edit > Preferences > Display > Characters per line when not justified). The fonts displayed may be draft or real. Such view does not show accurate line endings, so you can concentrate on content. The unjustified text mode does not display any overset information. Note: many other software call such view a 'story view'. |
It is displayed on the source pane, and it displays text with line breaks, hyphenation points and column jumps, based on the assigned geometry. If text does not fit into the assigned space, an overset indicator marks the point at which the text exceeds the space. The fonts displayed may be draft or real. Note: many other software call such view a 'galley view'. The Justified text view provides a suitable environment for an efficient text processing; text is easy to read and annotate. You can also use the Justified view to perform copyfitting and other production-related tasks.

It is displayed on the WYSIWYG pane, and it displays content as it will print, with all formatting. The fonts displayed are always real, and the text is always justified. You can view text in context of all other page elements related to the same article: columns, graphics, etc. In the WYSIWYG view, use mouse wheel to zoom in and out to inspect different aspects of the layout. Note: many other software call such view a 'layout view'. |
