Unlike splitting described in Split frames in default columns and in Split frames in specified number of columns, this method can be applied only on a single frame.
1. | Create a frame of dimensions that correspond to the total width of all the columns you want to create and of the highest column, or select an appropriate single frame to be split. |
2. | On the Tools menu, point to Split, and then click Choose Split. |
3. | In N. of columns, enter what you want. Note: by default, it contains the number of columns of the grid covered by the frame. |
4. | In Gutter, enter the distance between frame, or accept the default value, read from the page gutter. |
5. | Optionally, do one or more of the following: |
•To add vertical rules between columns, select Rules.
•To link all the new columns automatically to the current text, check Link to text.
•To keep the original frame after creating columns, check Keep object (not recommended).
•To make new columns smaller than the original object, enter Margins. Click Equal, to copy the left margin to all fields.
Note
The above described splitting method will not add a headline frame. To add such frame, see Creating headline and text columns.
