Box and unbox objects

To box or rebox selected objects with the in-house preset

Hold SHIFT and then click the icon #12 on the Page tools toolbar.

Note

•This assumes that the preset #2 was configured in the EditorialConfig as the in-house boxing. Available since the version 2.2.

•If you hold the SHIFT+ALT key pressed while clicking the boxing icon, boxing is removed without displaying dialog box. Available since the version 2.2.

To unbox selected objects by one click

Hold SHIFT+ALT and then click the icon #12 on the Page tools toolbar.

Alternatively, click the icon #12, and then select the No box preset .

•Available since the version 2.2.

To box or rebox selected objects selecting a preset

1.On the Tools menu, point to Box, and then click Box and Unbox, or click the icon #12 on the Page tools toolbar.

2.In the dialog box, under Preset, select a preset.

3.Click OK.

•As you click a preset, the weight and margin boxes are not updated - they reflect the values of the previous preset.

•If the selection was already boxed, and you select another preset and - before clicking OK - change the values in Weight and Margins, the values are ignored and only the preset is applied. But, if on an already boxed selection you keep the same preset and change values, the changed values are applied and the current boxing modified.

To unbox selected objects from the Box dialog

1.Make sure you selected the box itself and all boxed objects of one article layout. Do not select multiple article layouts, but just one.

2.On the Tools menu, point to Box, and then click Box and Unbox.

3.In the dialog box, under Preset, select No box and then click OK.

To re-box changing values

1.Make sure you selected the box itself and all boxed objects of one article layout. Do not select multiple article layouts, but just one.

2.On the Tools menu, point to Box, and then click Box and Unbox.

3.In the dialog box, do not select another preset but change the values in the Weigth and Margin boxes.

4.Click OK.

5.The selection gets reboxed with new values.

Note: when changing presets, the weight and margin boxes are not updated with actual values of the preset.

Dialog box options

The dialog box layout has been changed in build 2.3.2847, to handle the custom values in a better way. On the left see the dialog box in build 2.3.2847 or newer, and on the right, as it is in the previous versions and builds:

Custom Values

Tick this box to apply the values in the fields from Weight to Bottom Margin, when you already applied a preset and you want to modify it.

If unticked, the values are just displayed but will not be applied when you click OK.

Note: it won't work if you select another preset and before clicking OK, change the values.

Weight

Weight box. Enter what you want. On clicking OK, and if Custom Values is ticked, Fred reboxes with the modified value.

Margins

Margins boxes. Enter what you want. On clicking OK, and if Custom Values is ticked, Fred reboxes with the modified value.

In some older versions, there was just one margin box. In the current version, you can modify all margins independently.

Group boxed

If selected, the box gets grouped with the inner objects.
