You can create an edition or an edition template in several ways:
•As a new, empty edition, i.e. from scratch. Use this method to set-up the initial template for your publication. See Creating Editions or Templates from Scratch.
•From a template, i.e. as a copy of a template edition, including all master pages, grids, folios, and fixed items. This method is recommended for the production, as it provides one-click action to create a new edition. However, it requires templates to be prepared in advance. See Creating Editions From Template or From File.
•As a copy of an existing edition, with copies of linked articles / stories and references to images. This method is recommended for the production, when you create a second edition, as a copy of the first one. See Copying editions.
•From an intermediary file when importing ads and/or edition structure at once. This method is recommended for the production, based on additional edition planning software, as it provides one-click action to create a new edition and import ads. See To create edition from a file (import structure).
•By automated process. This requires custom scripts to be build to interface to your edition planner software. See your custom documentation for details.
