Ted4 and Fred4
Ted4 and Fred4 contain number of palettes. Palettes are generally enabled and displayed when editing content, e.g. pages, editions, articles etc. Separate set of palettes is available for each document type.

Palettes are hard-coded, therefore, you cannot customize then, except combining them in a Control palette container. Palettes can be displayed in a sidebar, or floating individually or grouped in a container. You can roll them up and down. The status and position of palettes is saved in a workspace.
All palettes have a title bar. By double-clicking a title bar, a palette is toggled between collapsed and expanded status. The title bar of some object related palettes contain the information about selected objects (on the Pages main tab, the type of object, e.g. Box, Frame, Hor.rule and so on, and the creation order of the object, e.g. #25.), or none, if palette does not apply to the selection, or nothing is selected.
Palettes have a cross-icon in the upper right corner. Click the icon to close the palette. On some palettes you can select local measurement units, different than the application's defaults.
In versions prior to 2.2, use the icon to apply changes (or press 8, when an object related palette is in focus). Use the
icon to cancel changes (or press Esc). In versions 2.2 or newer such icons are removed and enabled "auto-apply" when pressing TAB, SHIFT+TAB, or just clicking in another field. For more information see Changes in palettes in the version 2.2.
