Right sidebar

Right sidebar is typically a place where you dock palettes, or preview, available for the current main tab. Some main tabs have palettes and preview, others only palettes or preview, and the rest have none.

Right sidebar can be expanded or collapsed. It depends on your saved workspace, and also on the current context, ie. if a document (page, edition, article, listing) is displayed. The icon to toggle the right sidebar is in the upper right corner of the main window.

This applies to the Pages and Articles main tab.

To display palettes in the sidebar, open at least one document and then click the expander button <. To select which palettes are displayed in the sidebar, on the Window menu, point to Palettes Sidebar, and then click what you want.

The palettes in the sidebar can be collapsed or expanded. To collapse or expand a palette, double-click its name bar. The preceding screenshot shows palettes collapsed, and the following screenshot shows them expanded.

When palettes are expanded, you can change their position by dragging them for the vertical dotted bar. Have in mind that at the current time, non drag rectangle is shown, so there's a bit of guessing how much you have to drag it before it switches the place with another palette. The rule of thumb is to drag it for its entire height.

Note: the text editing palettes in Fred4 can be displayed only when text is in editing - either on page, or in text window.

Click the icon above the right sidebar to expand it. If you don't see nothing in the sidebar, it's because no document is loaded yet. In that case, leave  the sidebar expanded - it will be populated with palettes as soon as you open a document. If there's a document loaded, but the sidebar is empty, this means no palettes have been docked to the sidebar.

You can load all available palettes in a right sidebar, but not all of them can be displayed at the same time, if the vertical resolution of your screen is not sufficient. In that case, one or more palettes won't appear, although they're loaded. To display hidden palettes, double-click the title bar of any displayed palette, to collapse it and to make more space for the hidden palettes.
