Overriding application-level units for display
Display of application-level default units can be overridden in the Measurement, Area/Image colors, Rule & Dash, Rule Extra, Drop Shadow, Dynamic Engrave and Justification palettes in Fred4.
To change the displayed units, right-click the title bar, and then select Measures. Select the measurement unit you want to use on display different than [Use app.default].
Note: this works only if palette is docked in the sidebar.
Default measurement units are marked as [Use app.default].
Vertical and horizontal units can be selected independently. See Vertical and horizontal units for details.
Save workspace to make the choice persistent between sessions.
Overriding application-level units when entering values
You can always use any other available measurement unit to enter typographical values in any dialog box or panel, and in GNML tags.
While GN4 dialog boxes and palettes display the values in units selected either on global, application or palettes level, you can use any standard or personalmeasurement unit to enter typographical values in dialog boxes or panels, and in GNML tags.
Overriding application-level in palettes and dialog boxes: GN4 applies the value you've entered, recalculating it internally and displaying it in the actual default measurement unit in dialog boxes and panels. For example, if in the Measurement panel in Fred4 the default vertical unit is set on points (pt), when you enter the height of 25mm, the value is displayed as 71.125pt.
Overriding application-level units in GNML: GN4 applies the value and unit you've entered manually in the tag, keeping it as such.
