Sign in fails

When you run a GN4 application, you cannot sign in.

Note: if you are not rejected, but the software does not start of crashes instead, see GN4 does not start and GN4 may crash when....

You may be rejected because of several reasons:

Your name is not registered in the GN4 database, so you can't run any GN4 application on any computer. In that case, ask System Administrator to add you. If you are System Administrator, then see Create / edit GN4 groups and users.

The GN4 client version on your computer is not the same as the GN4 server version. In that case, try to upgrade your computer to the server version. See Semi-automatic daily refresh of GN4 applications and configurations.

You're not authorized to run specific GN4 application.

You're user was disabled by the System Administrator, or it is expired. See also Re-enabling disabled Administrator user.

All licenses, enabled on the system for the GN4 application are busy, so you will have to wait for a license to be freed. See Cannot login: no more free licenses (named login)  (ERR2111). If you believe the licenses are busy by mistake (the users are not logged anymore), clean expired logins as explained in Clean up in case of a login failure.

Your Windows password has been changed and it does not correspond anymore to the stored encrypted version in the UserConfig.xml. Delete the password and then retry to log in. See also Providing for automatic sign-in.

When connecting to localhost (during testing), and email scanner in AVG Business Edition 2012 is active, you may get the ERR1101 - Unable to connect to the server at http://locahost/gn4/; error:'The operation has timed out'. This is due to the email scanner, as it scans all incoming emails for viruses, but apparently it is not enough "specific" when identifying incoming communications, and it intercepts requests to the webservice from Ted4 or Fred4 and prevents them from completing. With the feature disabled everything connects fine.

Your connection is extremely slow, so the log in operation cannot be completed.

If the browser doesn't show the login form

See Browser doesn't show login form.

If you cannot sign in as Administrator

Reimport the administrator user as explained in Importing users from XML.

If you are not rejected, but the software does not start of crashes instead
