To find out when this help was lastly updated, check the date at the footer of any topic, next to GN4 Help. The last modification date, named This topic last edited on is also shown for each topic in the same footer. See also Downloading GN4 help, Installing GN4 help and Getting updated help. |
The CHM version of the help appears in two flawors: the 'complete help' containing also the programming reference and the configuration procedures (GN4.CHM), and the shorter 'end-user help', without the programming reference and the configuration procedures (GN4S.CHM). The 'complete help' is for the Super Users and the System Administrators. The 'end-user help' is for the Editorial Users. The Web help version is the 'complete help' only. |
The contextual topics, that are displayed when you hit F1 (either in a dialog box, or in other context), are available when the GN4.CHM or GN4S.CHM is installed locally and you're using GN4 applications (except browser), or when your system is set up to use the Web help Not all dialog boxes are covered by context help. Many dialog boxes share the same help topics, which is typically a small table of contents where you have to select for which dialog you want to display the help for. |
The task-oriented topics represent the 75% of the help. Without going in the potentially overwhelming details, task-oriented topics give you clear instructions of what to do to perform a specific task. Have in mind that the task-oriented topics describe the look and feel of the standard configuration, therefore, if your system contains customized keyboard shortcuts, they may not correspond to what's described in the documentation. See also Finding Information. |
Such topics give you in-depth information about concepts and "what's-that-about". They don't tell you how to perform a task but "why you may want to do it". You can find explanatory topics at the beginning or at the end of chapters. |
Such topics use technical language to explain commands and their parameters, giving you examples of their use. You will return to such topic when you forgot the order or the type of the parameters of specific command. Regarding programming commands, you may want to read the Locating programming commands topic. |
Such topics lead you step-by-step, following specific scenarios and helping you to learn how to use GN4 in an organized way. Please find tutorials in Quick Start Tutorials. |
