1.On the Pages main tab in Fred4, open a page with articles.
2.Display Navigator, and then on the navigator ribbon, select Content.
3.Select one or more stories. For details on locating stories, see Search for stories.
4.Do one of the following:
•Drag stories onto any frame of the body or other article element.
•Start editing the article on page, and then drag stories onto frame in editing.
•Start editing the article in the Text Editor pane, and then Drag stories on the Text Editor pane.
5.When prompted (if prompted), on the Select Insert Position dialog, select End of text, Start of text, or Cursor Position. Your choice is stored in your personal preferences. Click OK to insert, or Cancel to abort.
Notes
•Actually, it is not possible to order items, or to change the import table.
•If you are not prompted for the choice of the insertion point, but you want to, either hold CTRL while dragging stories, or adjust default value as explained in "About hiding Select Insert Position dialog and predefining option".
If there's a selection on page before you start to drag stories, Fred4 verifies if the drop point is within selection, or not. If you are dropping on a selection, Fred4 will pour stories in the selection (if selected objects are frames - otherwise an error message is displayed). If the drop point is outside the current selection, Fred4 will attempt to select the object under the pointer. Should that fail, because there's nothing under the pointer, Fred4 will pour stories in the selection. Otherwise, it will select the object under the pointer and drop stories in it. If there's no selection and the drop point is empty space on page, the drag is aborted silently. |
You can avoid that the Select Insert Position dialog always appears, and you can predefine the desired option instead. To do so, 1.In EdAdmin4, under Application Configuration > Client applications, locate and double-click the EditorialConfig item. 2.In the right pane, scroll down the content, and locate glbStoryEndBegCurPosition attribute within <Dict> section. 3.Do one of the following: •If the attribute is there, it appears as: <Item Name="glbStoryEndBegCurPosition" Value="xxx" /> where xxx can be -1, 0, 1 or 2. -1 means "display dialog". All other values do not display dialog, but act directly. 0 means "End of text", 1 means "Beginning of text"y, 2 means current cursor position. Replace the current value with another listed value. •If the attribute is NOT there, add it in the new line as <Item Name="glbStoryEndBegCurPosition" Value="xxx" /> where xxx can be -1, 0, 1 or 2. -1 means "display dialog"All other values do not display dialog, but act directly. 0 means "End of text", 1 means "Beginning of text", 2 means current cursor position. Enter the value you want. 4.Save changes and restart your GN4 applications. |
