You can copy a layer from one page to another.
The copy can produce duplicate of all articles, or can create articles with multiple geometries.
To copy a layer from one page (source) to another (destination)
1.Open the source edition, and then the target edition. Tile edition windows.
2.Check out the target page in the target edition.
3.Drag the layer from the source page to the target page icon.
4.If and when prompted to replace an existing layer, select what you want.
5.Save the target edition.
What happens next, it depends whether there are articles, linked to the source layer.
•If no articles are linked to the source layer, the target edition is saved, and that's it.
•If there are articles, linked to the source layer, you are prompted to rename them / move them in another folder or similar.
If copied layer belongs to a different region/zone, under certain conditions, you will have to re-assign it to another region, before proceeding. An example: the source layer of the page 1 in the edition MBFirst, with ID=6311, belongs to the region MB. We dragged it to the page 1 of the edition NSFirst, which belong to the region NS. Thus, a layer belonging to one region, was dragged to a page in another region. There are two possible scenarios: •If the region MB does not enclose the zone NS, when you try to save the target edition NSFirst, Fred4 will display the error message, claiming that the "Layer 'Copy of A1 MB' of page 1 has region not compatible with the page zone". In that case, you can right-click the copied layer, and select the appropriate region, in this example NS. Then, when you retry to save, the Articles Copy dialog will appear, containing all the articles and stories on the copied layer, offering to create new geometry for them (on this example, in the NS region). •If the region MB encloses the zone NS, it is not required that you change the region of the copied layer. When you try to save edition NSFirst, Fred4 will display the Articles Copy dialog where the articles and stories will maintain the same region, thus the same geometry. To conclude copying, you will have to add suffix, or prefix to names, or change names manually. |
