You need to decide which is the best moment to create a change page as a copy of a source page.

It depends on your editorial procedures. This topic describes the typical scenarios and typical variations.

Note: all scenarios assume you will not repeat the copying of the source page to the change page after you did it the first time. Should this become necessary, see the paragraph Re-syncing the change page with the source page.

Typical scenarios

Click to toggle expandA- The work on change page begins after the first edition is done
Click to toggle expandB- The work on change page begins in the middle of the work on the first edition
Click to toggle expandC- The work on change page begins at the same time as the work on the first edition

Typical change page variations

Click to toggle expandThe change page is totally different of the source page
Click to toggle expandThe change page keeps only some articles (same content, same format, same layout) from the source page
Click to toggle expandThe change page keeps only some articles (varying content, format, layout) from the source page

Re-syncing the change page with the source page

When copying again the source page on the change page, make sure you do not replace the change page editorial layer, but that you add another one.

For the purpose of this explanation, let's call the previous editorial layer the "first copy editorial layer" and the layer, added by the second copying, the "second copy editorial layer".

When the copying is done, on the change page you will end up temporarily with two editorial layers. You do not need both permanently. See which articles/layout you want to keep from the "first copy editorial layer", make the space on the "second copy editorial layer" and move the content there as explained in Move or copy objects to another layer. Alternatively, do the opposite: make the space on the "first copy editorial layer" and move one or more articles there. When done, delete the editorial layer you do not need anymore.
