When you create an object in Fred4, by default it appears solid - its opacity is 100%. You can add transparency to your artwork in a variety of ways. You can vary the degree of transparency of an object or a group of objects from 100% opacity (completely “solid”) to 0% opacity (completely transparent). When you decrease an object’s opacity, the underlying artwork becomes visible through the surface of the object.
Use the Opacity palette to review and edit transparency on selected page objects. Use the Transparency optimize slider on the Display tab of the Preferences dialog box (Edit > Preferences) to select display quality for transparency.
Note: under specific conditions, the transparency may not work or may not display well on screen, but it prints well. It depends on the types of images, see Transparency limitations for details.
