You can apply a format on a text element of an article. The formatting applies on all lines in the article element. Formats are collections of typographical attributes and paragraph and character styles. See Editing GNML Formats, Libraries and Styles in the Configuring GNML chapter.

To apply a format on a text element on the Articles main tab

1.Place the insertion point anywhere in the text.

2.On the Type menu, click Select Format, and then select a format from the list.

Note: the above is valid also when editing text on the Pages main tab. However, changing the format in this way won't update the Tool setting of the format

To apply a format on a text element on the Pages main tab (when not editing text)

1.Select any frame of a linked text.

2.Do one of the following:

On the Type menu, click Select Format, and then select a format from the list.

On the formatting toolbar, select a format in the Format drop-down list.

The format is applied on the entire text element.

Hint

If you hold CTRL pressed while clicking the OK button, the applied format will be stored in your personal preferences as the default format for that frame type, and it will be auto-applied on every future creation of that frame type.

Note

The list of formats may contain all the formats in the current title, or only the formats related to the current article element. This depends whether the format filtering is on, and how it is configured.

For more information about format filtering, see About formats filtering.
