The Startup sub-tab on the Extra tab of the preferences dialog box on the Pages main tab in Fred4 contains additional startup-time preferences. All the preferences are personal (per-user) setting.

Preference	Description
Do not maximize Fred window Do not add default toolbars Do not populate Sidebar	See Define Fred default work area if no workspace is loaded.
Keep custom pasteboard settings	Recommended: ticked.
Always auto-adjust paper to page size Auto-adjust paper to page size only if paper is smaller	See Auto-adjust the paper size to page size when soft-proofing and About media size in soft proof.
