Fred4 features optional vertical and horizontal rulers.
To toggle rulers, on the Edit menu, click Preferences, and then under Drawing, select or clear Rulers.
Rulers use the default measurement system, defined in your personal preferences (Main > Measurement).
As you zoom page closer, the ruler definition increases. As you move the pointer on page, a thin orange rule moves on rulers, marking the current position. The small font is used to display rulers numbers.
You can select different units for rulers. If you change later the default measurement units, it won't affect the position of guides and objects. After the change, the ruler marks might not line up with objects aligned to the old tick marks. To set the measurement system in rulers, on the Edit menu, click Preferences. Under Measurement section of the Main tab, select the measurement system you want to use for horizontal and vertical dimensions in rulers.
All pages share the same rulers and measurement units.
The selected measurement units are your private preference, so each user can have different setup.
By default, rulers measuring starts from the upper-left corner of a page. You can change this by moving the zero point.
You can change measurement units for rulers and palettes and dialog boxes. You can also change these settings at any time and temporarily override the current measurement units as you enter a value followed by a different measurement unit.
It is not possible to redefine where the major tick marks appear on a ruler.
