The APM scope defines which pages and articles are used for the APM session for the Make-up Pages, Unlink Editorial Content, Place Shapes Only and Preflight Free Space actions. The Report Only action is not sensible to the APM scope so it works always the same, independently of the current settings.
You can review and set the scope on the APM dialog box and on the APM preferences dialog box.
The review of the settings combination
If all three check-boxes are unticked, the scope is all the pages that have the same APM category as the current page. This setting allow you to perform the APM action on an entire set of the pages with the specific category. Fred will perform the selected action, opening the pages if necessary. If the current action is Make-up Pages, all the unlinked articles in the current folder will be processed. If the current action is Unlink Editorial Content, it will be unlinked on all the pages with the same category as the current page. If the current action is Place Shapes Only, the shapes will be placed on all the pages with the same category as the current page. |
If Only Opened Pages is ticked and other two check-boxes are unticked, the scope is only opened pages that have the same category as the current page. This setting allows you to perform the APM action only on a smaller set of the pages that have the same category as the current page. Fred will perform the selected action only on the currently opened pages that have the same category as the current page. If there are more pages that have the same category as the current page, Fred will not open them. If the current action is Make-up Pages, all the unlinked articles in the current folder will be processed. If the current action is Unlink Editorial Content, it will be unlinked only on the opened pages that have the same category as the current page. If the current action is Place Shapes Only, the shapes will be placed only on the opened pages that have the same category as the current page. |
If Only Current Pages is ticked and other two check-boxes are unticked, or even if the Only Opened Pages is also ticked, the scope is only current page. This setting allows you to perform the APM action only on a single page and not on all opened pages that have the same category as the current page. Fred will perform the selected action only on the current page, ignoring all other opened pages, or any not opened page that has the same category as the current page. If the current action is Make-up Pages, all the unlinked articles in the current folder will be processed. If the current action is Unlink Editorial Content, it will be unlinked only on the current page. If the current action is Place Shapes Only, the shapes will be placed only the current page. |
If Only Selected Articles is ticked and other two check-boxes are unticked, the scope is all the pages that have the same category as the current page but only articles, selected in the Editorial Navigator will be processed. This setting allows you to perform the APM Make-up Pages action only with a smaller set of the articles processing all the pages that have the same category as the current page. Fred will perform the selected action, opening the pages if necessary. If the current action is Make-up Pages, only the selected unlinked articles in the current folder will be processed. If the current action is Unlink Editorial Content, it will be unlinked on all the pages with the same category as the current page. If the current action is Place Shapes Only, the flag Only Selected Articles is ignored. |
