The purpose of this library object is that you can place it as is on the page when nothing is selected on the page, and that it can link to an existing article, or create a new article.

To create a head and body "auto-link/create" library object

1.Create a new empty object in a library. If the library grid is not what you expected, see About page grid in library windows for the procedure on how to adjust it.

2.In the library window, press H and then create a shape of head and body in the required size, starting from the top-left corner.

3.Adjust the headline height as explained in Scale articles or complex objects and Scale headline vertically with auto-shift.

4.Select the body columns and then press 1-9 to resplit them in the desired number of columns.

5.Reselect the normal pointer and then on the Window > Palettes, select Tool.

6.Select the headline frame, set the values as stated in the following paragraph and then click the green confirmation icon.

Values:

The Link box is ticked.

The Article box contains Select an existing article or create a new one, which will let you choose whether you want to link to an existing empty article, or to a new article.

7.Select the body frames, set the values as stated in the following paragraph and then click the green confirmation icon.

The Article box contains Use current article (if any).

The Link box is ticked.

Notes

The settings of the Tool are important in the following scenarios:

You want that the library object automatically creates an article and links to it. Alternatively, you want that the library object automatically displays the list of existing articles to link to one of those, or that it creates an article and links to it.

You want that the shape can replace an existing shape on page.
