You may enable versioning by creating a versioning rule and assigning it to a partition (to which, in turn, you have to assign folders that store content).

Configure the versioning on the versioning rule level if you need to differentiate the versioning strategies by folders and if you want to create the versions only for the objects, stored in folders (e.g. articles, stories, images, videos, audios) and not all objects.

Anyway, in case that the versioning is enabled on the global level too,the versioning rule level has a priority.

Notes

The versioning on the versioning rule level apply to all the objects that have a reference to a partitions - therefore, by default, to all the objects that are stored in folders, but to no other object.

If you want to expand the versioning also on the objects that are not stored in folders, you need to change your schema and assign the partitionRef also to those other objects. In that way, those objects, e.g. editions, pages etc will have the partitionRef and you will be able to assign a versioning rule to the partition where they belong
