The Colors tab of the preferences dialog box on the Pages main tab in Fred4 contains colors preferences for display of screen elements and fitting.

All the preferences are personal (per-user) setting. Click the preference name for the further information (where available).

Preference	Description
Page background	Select a color for the page background.
Custom pasteboard color	Select this option and select color for pasteboard if you don't like it gray.
Fitting	The border of all empty text frames or fitting frames or ready images will be in this color, as long you didn't turn off the frames border display.
Out of measure/dummy or to be updated image	All non fitting frames (local/linked), or dummy or images to be updated, will have the border, displayed in this color, as long you didn't turn off the frames border display.
Frame background during text editing	Select the color of the frame during text editing. By default, it is transparent.
Check overfull lines...	Tick, to show the justification quality markers.
Bleed box	Select the color for the bleed box (2.4. or newer).
