When you add a wire image to an article as explained in Add wire images to an article by dragging them on the article tree, or place it on a page as explained in Place a wire image on a page by drag and drop, the original image (image object) is automatically copied into an editorial image (img object) and stored in the folder, defined in the current Extract destination.

Therefore, if you want wire images after being cropped to pass the page test, ensure to select in each Extract destination, a folder who has a workstate suitable to pass the page test.
