Domain logon and integrated Windows authentication
If you logged on to your domain, and you are connected to a GN4 through a local area network, or through VPN, it's unlikely that GN4 will prompt you for another logon - it will use your domain logon instead.
This works if your GN4 server uses the integrated Windows authentication, and it assumes that GN4 user names are the same as the domain names.
This may not work if you are connected through an Internet connection without VPN.
Domain logon without integrated Windows authentication
If you logged on to your domain, and you are connected to a GN4 through a local area network, or through VPN, GN4 may prompt you for another logon. For example, even if you already launched Fred4, when you run Ted4, you will have to log on again.
However, you can save your sign-in information (user name and password) (if this functionality is enabled - see Enable/disable automatic logon).
On the next logon, the saved sign-in information (user name and password) are used and the logon dialog box won't appear any more.
Note: to redisplay the logon dialog box, hold SHIFT while launching GN4 application.
Sign in over an Internet connection
When your GN4 server does not use the integrated Windows authentication, or if you are connected to the GN4 server through an Internet connection, every GN4 client application prompts you to sign in. For example, even if you already launched Fred4, when you run Ted4, you will have to sign in again.
However, you can save your sign-in information (user name and password) (if this functionality is enabled - see Enable/disable automatic logon).
On next logon, the saved sign-in information (user name and password) are used and the logon dialog box won't appear any more.
Note: to redisplay the logon dialog box, hold SHIFT while launching GN4 application.
