In GN4 you can manage the following types of content:
A story is a stand-alone text, that is not a part of any package, created manually, or received from contributors or wire agency, or archived. Technically speaking, stories belong to archiveObjects. You can create a story in following ways: •By an user action, through GN4 Web interface, creating it as new, or copying from an existing GN4 item. •Unattended, from a file, dropped in a set of predefined folders (typically from wire agency, a FTP upload, etc) •Unattended, from a feed •Unattended, from an e-mail received by a POP3 server See Wires and Collections. |
An article is a container for text and multimedia elements. You can create and edit articles (with geometry) in GN4 browser, Ted4 and Fred4, or from a story, by performing the "send to newsroom" action. Technically speaking, articles belong to linkObjects. Article elements (texts) belong to an article, and typically theyt are head, body, image caption, pullquote etc. In GN4 you can edit an article element by opening article and then opening that element. If you group together documents, images, audios, videos, stories etc ("archive" type of objects), that's called a "package". If you group together folder objects such as articles, editorial images, documents, images, audios, videos, stories etc. ("folder" type of objects), that's called a "group". See Collections. |
You can import/upload images, videos, audios and documents, created manually, or received from contributors or wire agency, or archived. Technically speaking, images, videos, audios and documents belong to archiveObjects. See Graphics. |
You can import/upload editorial images. In Fred4 and Ted4, you can also create a dummy images. Technically speaking, editorial images belong to linkObjects. See Graphics. |
A Media Gallery is a container for media content. You can import/upload editorial images. In Fred4 and Ted4, you can also create a dummy images. Technically speaking, media galleries belong to linkObjects, and you can link them to articles, but not to pages. See Media Galleries. |
You can create pages as part of an edition, on the Editions main tab in Fred4, and edit them on the Pages main tab of Fred4. See Pages and Page Layout and Grid. |
Tracking layouts are containers for tracked paper pages. You can create and edit tracking layout on the Tracking Main Tab in Fred4. |
You can create and edit editions, on the Editions main tab in Fred4, or on the Editions tab in the browser. See Editions |
You can create calendars, events, tasks, budgets and contacts. Events can also be received from wires. Calendars and contacts can be imported from standard file formats. See Organizing Work. |
Note
In archive, the most of the content arrives through the archiving procedure. If the you are archiving editions or pages, the linked material (articles, images) is automatically stored. You can easily archive also the non-published material, putting articles, images, audio, video etc.
