Instead to install GN4.CHM on local drive of every GN4 workstation, you can set your system to use a Web help on a local Web server or on the Tera Web server.

To configure GN4 to use help from a local Web server

1.On all IIS servers GN4 uses, configure a virtual application to point to a folder where you will extract the Web help (Web help folder).

2.Download Web help zipped file as explained in Downloading GN4 help (paragraph "To download file for local Web help installation").

3.Extract it in the Web help folder on all the IIS servers GN4 uses.

4.In the EditorialConfig, under the <Dict> node, add the line:

<Item Name="WebhelpURL" Value="url_of_your_helpserver" />

where the Value is a string with the URL of your Web server, where you copied files, extracted from ZIP,

To configure GN4 to use help from a Tera Web server

1.In the EditorialConfig, under the <Dict> node, add the line:

<Item Name="WebhelpURL" Value="url_of_your_helpserver" />

where the Value is a string with the URL of your Web server, where you copied files, extracted from ZIP,

WARNING: a sign-in is required to access Web help on a Tera server. Moreover, the help may be unavailable in the periods that Tera server is under maintenance.

Notes

The GN4 Web help on the Tera server is automatically recompiled every night. To get the fresh copy on your local Web server, repeat the steps 2 and 3 of the above procedure.

To make the above available to GN4 client workstations after you installed it for the first time (not when you refresh it), make sure all users log out and log back on to GN4 client software. IISreset is not needed.

The above assumes that GN4.CHM does not exist in the GN4 BIN folder on your local drive. If the file exists, it is used even if the system is configured to use help from a Web server - in that case, delete or rename the GN4.CHM file.

To use the web help on the Tera Web server, all the users need to have sign-in information (user name and password) to access to that server. Request the user name and password on the Miles 33 support desk. All the users can use the same user name and password.
