Summary of selection methods

To select

Do following

A single object

With 182_cursor_16, click inside the object, near object's border or path.

More adjacent objects

With 182_cursor_16, drag a marquee around all objects you want to select, until ALL CORNERS of all ALL OBJECTS are within selection rectangle.

More nonadjacent objects

With 182_cursor_16, click an object. Press and hold the SHIFT key while clicking other objects.

Press and hold SHIFT and then drag a marquee around nonadjacent objects.

More objects, forcing an object as first

1.With 182_cursor_16,click the object you want to be first.

2.Press and hold the SHIFT key while dragging a marquee around all other objects (including the first one), and then release the left button and the SHIFT key.

All objects belonging to the same article layout (linked or unlinked)

There are several methods:

Click the middle button of the mouse, to select the entire article layout or the logical group.

While nothing is selected on page, press and hold SHIFT and then with 182_cursor_16,click any object created from an object library or by Head and body tool, or any logical group, to select all the members of that layout. Available in version 1.5 or newer.

Right-click any of the objects in an article layout, point to Logical Groups, and then click Select Group.

All objects belonging to the same article layout (linked)

While at least one element of the article is selected, do one of the following:

On the Edit menu, point to Select, and then click Article.

Press SHIFT+A.

Click the icon 197_SelectArticle_16.

The selection handles appear around entire article.

All objects on the current layer

CTRL+A

All objects on all layers

Not possible.

All elements of an article

SHIFT+A

All frames linked in the same article element

SHIFT+CTRL+A

Overlapping objects

Hold CTRL while clicking. Every click goes one level below.

Content of the container (alternate selection)

Click the alternate selection icon in the toolbox.

A point

With 15_polygon_16 click a point.

More points

With 15_polygon_16 drag a marquee around points. Note: only consecutive points can be selected.

A image referenced by the selected frame(s)

On the Edit menu, point to Select, and then click Select linked image, or press CTRL+ALT+A.

Note: the image is added to the selection of frames.
