The outlines of frames are displayed by default. On the Pages main tab, use the Frames command on the View menu to hide the frame edges. Doing this does not hide the crossbar in a graphics placeholder frame. The display setting for frame edges doesn’t affect empty text frames - they are always displayed.

To hide non-printable objects, on the View menu, click Printable objects.
