Layers and Regions

GN4 supports a regionalized conditional text. It is based on a "current region" that is used during text justification and display.

Depending on the current region, parts of text, marked as specific to a certain region, are displayed or hidden from the justified text (like a selective notes mode) - and so are visible or not in the page.

Each region can have own geometry and typographical formatting. This provides the possibility to have the same source text, which will be published over 5 columns with a big headline and long body in one region, while will have a 3-column smaller headline and a shorter body for another region.

The region in Fred4 is determined by the region, to which belong page layers. Have in mind that in Fred4 you can open only the pages belonging to a single region. To open a page belonging to a different region, first close all other pages.

When you create a layer, you have to select its parent region.

Take into account that if you intend to share this layer across more pages, it will be possible only for pages that belong to a zone, which is part of the layer's region.

Note

Regions are title-wide.

You can add more regions in the EdAdmin4.
