Defining the typographical baseline grid on a format level is the simplest way to obtain a perfect lock to grid.
The grid created on the format level is effective in all article elements to which you apply the specific format, unless overridden by paragraph styles, direct tags or by means of the Paragraph palette.
Typically, all body and caption formats are supposed to have such lock to the baseline grid, while it is less needed for the headline formats.
By default, in a new format, the typographical baseline grid is disabled.
Note: this affects only texts flowing in a linked or local geometry. It does nothing on texts without any geometry.
1.In EdAdmin4, locate the Formats listing. 2.Double-click a format to open it. 3.On the Edit format dialog box, click Paragraph. 4.On the V. Just tab, under Grid alignment, in Offset and Value, enter the values, appropriate for the leading you intend to use. Example: The body leading is 9.5pt. Enter 9.5pt in Offset and in Value. This assumes that you will set the page baseline grid to the same value 9.5pt. 5.Click OK to close all open dialog boxes, and then ensure that users refresh the formats in Fred4 and Ted4. |

Notes
•This procedure is carried out in the EdAdmin4, and it is subject to permissions.
•It is recommended to define the typographical baseline grid rather on the format level, than on the styles level.
•Bear in mind that you need also to create the page baseline grid with the same value you have used for the typographical grid.
