This example is about sharing all content - editorial and ads.
Your publication has more geographical editions. Therefore, you defined related zones for your publication, e.g. North, South, West, East and so on.
You will have a separate edition for every zone.
One of the editions, typically the first one you start to work on and the first one you print, will have all the pages and is considered a "parent" edition.
Other zoned editions will contain only the pages that have different content in that zone. When printing a zoned edition, you will re-use the plates of unchanged pages of the parent edition.
The list of pages of any edition will not contain duplicated page numbers, e.g. no edition will contain pages belonging to more zones, but only the pages belonging to one zone.
If you already know which pages will be varied in zoned editions, you can create such editions and pages beforehand.
If you know in advance which pages will be varied in zoned editions
1.Create the "parent" edition first.
Parent edition will have all the pages. Pages may be unassigned to any zone.
You can use an edition template for that.
2.Ensure that all the pages have two layers: one for editorial, one for ads.
3.Save the edition.
4.For each zone, create a separate edition.
Use an edition template without pages.
5.Add the pages to be varied, and assign them to the same zone.
6.Save editions.
7.Tile windows of all editions (if too many, then do pair-by-pair, e.g. parent and zone 1, parent and zone 2 etc).
8.For each page you want to use a shared layer, perform the procedure explained in Share a layer with a page in another edition.
If you will decide only later which and how many pages are varied in zoned editions
PREPARATION
1.Create the "parent" edition first.
Parent edition will have all the pages. Pages may be unassigned to any zone.
You can use an edition template for that.
2.Ensure that all the pages have two layers: one for editorial, one for ads.
3.Save the edition.
4.For each zone, create a separate edition.

WHEN YOU'RE READY TO CREATE PAGES
1.Open the parent edition and the zoned edition, side-by-side.
2.Add the pages to be varied, and assign them to the same zone.
3.Save edition.
4.For each page you want to use a shared layer, perform the procedure explained in Share a layer with a page in another edition.
Note
This procedure shares an entire editorial layer between different pages. The ID of that layer is the same on all pages where it is shared. The editorial part of pages will be identical. If you do any change on this layer from any of these page, the change will affect all pages that share the layer.
