On the Editions tab in Fred4, use the Geometry Data palette to set the dimensions and the Master data palette to set typographical format of the selected master page. To display those palettes, see Palettes (Editions).
You can also enter simple math expressions when defining values. The expression is evaluated when you click the confirmation icon.
Important
You can change master data only on masters of a new, unsaved edition, or only on the new, unsaved masters of an existing edition.
Note
It's not possible to select more masters for these operations.
On the Geometry Data palette, on the Presets list, select the appropriate preset of page properties and then click OK. |
1.In the Paper Size box, select User Defined. Note: only the User Defined option allows you to set the width and height of a page - all other options default to predefined values. 2.In Page width, type the width of the page, including the left and right margin. 3.In Page height, type the height of the page, including the top and bottom margin. 4.In Margin left, enter value for the left page margin. 5.Then, enter values for other three margins as well. 6.In Column width, enter the value for the column width, or leave this box empty, and enter the value in the Columns box (then, the width is automatically calculated) 7.Enter value in the Column gutter, and then specify Module height (leave Module gutter on 0 except if there are reasons not to do it). 8.In Columns, enter the number of columns - this will recalculate the value in the Column width box. 9.Click the confirmation icon to store changes. |
Right-click the master and then select Apply geometry. Note: the copying applies to all masters. It is not possible to copy only to selected masters. |
On the Master Data palette, in Format, select the typographical format. The selected format is automatically assigned on all local text on that master page. Later, in Fred4, you can select a local text, and apply another format, if required. |
The geometry you set in is related to half of the page. The changes for doubling the half pages are done internally. For example, if you want a double page with 10 columns, you must only set 5 columns and the width of half page. Also check for geometry templates previously defined for double pages, especially when using custom page size. |
