Duplicate an edition with all articles and images but different page dateline

The following procedure creates a target edition that is an exact duplicate of the source edition, except for the page datelines.

Example: you produce and print first the edition Lyngo News with 64 pages and then you produce and print the edition Limbo News with the 64 pages. Most of the pages are the same in both Lyngo News and Limbo News editions, but the page datelines on all pages read "Lyngo" when printing the Lyngo edition, and "Limbo" when printing the Limbo edition. Instead to create a mega edition with 128 pages or two editions with 64 pages each and then you share the layers for all the pages that are the same, it is recommended that you create an edition with the number of pages X+Y+Z, where "X" is the number of pages that are the same in both editions, and "Y" and "Z" are the number of pages that are different.

To prepare an edition that "serves" two editions with a different page header

1.On the Editions main tab, create an edition with the number of pages X+Y+Z, where "X" is the number of pages that are the same in both editions, and "Y" and "Z" are the number of pages that are different.

2.Assign the "Z" pages to a different zone than the pages "X" and "Y".

3.Make sure that the datelines on all the masters use the GNML variable ENumberName - assigned to display the edition name in the dateline.

4.Save the edition, and select Lyngo News in the edition number.

5.Print all the pages that are the same in both editions and the pages that are specific for the Lyngo News edition.

6.On the Edit menu, select Edition Date, Name, Number, and then select Limbo News in the edition number.

7.Print all the pages that are the same in both editions and the pages that are specific for the Limbo News edition.

About archiving of such an edition

The previously explained approach uses a built-in variable ENumberName to achieve the appropriate page dateline value when printing an edition, but this won't work when archiving edition, as the edition will be archived with the last specified page dateline. The workaround for this inconvenience is to archive the edition manually twice: once for each value of edition number.
