You may want to set the default gap between the headline frame and the body columns when using the Head and  Body tool.

The default value is 0, which means that the body columns would be drawn just under the headline frame.

On the Split subtab of the Extra tab on the Preferences dialog box, in Head/Body Gap, enter a suitable value, e.g. 8pt.
