Pages and sections

The pages of an edition can be grouped into sections. Sections are either physical sections of the newspaper, such as A, B, etc. (a typical term is booklet) or they are "logical sections" such as Sports, Business, Local, etc. (a typical term is section). Every physical section can contain multiple logical sections.

The section name can be automatically included in the page folio using a GN4 style.

Create sections when configuring titles.

Articles and images can be assigned to a section, and retrieved by these assignments.

A section is title-specific, (i.e. each title in the system will have its own sections).

Click to toggle graphic sizeSection names are arbitrary strings of up to 32 characters. It is not possible to have two pages in the same edition with the exact same number, section and zone. This means that GN4 cannot directly support sub-numbering of pages (e.g., 'split' a page 8 into three pages 8, 8A, 8B). However, it is possible to achieve the same result with simple 'tricks', like using a page number 1008 for 8A and 2008 for 8B, and having the folio markup commands display the correct '8A' and '8B' values.
