About Beacon page numbering

Build 1501 on 14/Nov/2017  This topic last edited on: 24/Oct/2016, at 14:37

The GN4:Page element (from build 2.2) has two new extra attributes which are filled by the Beacon import.
They are:

externalPrintableNumber: Printable number to automatically populate the folios (Beacon request)

externalSectionNumber: Number of the page in the Beacon sections

The attributes are filled using the following information from the XML Beacon file (see also the Schema chapter)

<page_in_section …> populate the externalSectionNumber extra attribute (0 if missing)

<printable_hash …> populate the externalPrintableNumber extra attribute (0 if missing)

For further information see:

Enhancement GN4-3502  -  Edt4: add beacon folios and beacon section page nr to page properties.

See Job references for a full list of references

The attributes must be used in the Master pages to create the correct page numbering using the following GNML command

>writei pg_externalSectionNumber<

or

>writei pg_externalPrintableNumber<

The value read from the XML Beacon file can be seen in the page properties within an edition.

In the sample below it’s possible to see that the local page 175 has the page number 75 and 27 as Section Page Nr. and Printable page Nr.

If the dialog above does not displays the Printable page and the Section page number verify that your software version is at least build 2.2.2649.

If you are running a build slightly older than build 2.2.2649 it’s possible to amend the configuration re-importing the following files from the latest build:
