Insert tags in text

1.Turn on the tags display, as explained in Turn on and off tags in the source view.
2.Click in the source view where you want to insert a tag, and then press the hot-key, assigned to the tag insertion (typically F9, but it may be customized and different on your system): the tags brackets (angle brackets) will appear on the left and on the right side of the cursor.

3.Enter the tag and its parameters (if required).

If the auto-justification is turned on, and the tag you have inserted produces a visible effect in the source view, you will see it right on (in the example above, we inserted a tag for the font change, so it's effect was immediately visible.

The editing of tags is subject of permission. See Tags editing permissions.

If your preferences default to hidden tags, when you try to insert a tag in the source pane, the message is displayed.

You can insert tags only in the source pane!

In such case, first enable tags insertion as explained in Turn on and off tags in the source view and then retry.

Tags cannot be inserted on the WYSYSIG palette or on page. Switch to the source palette to insert tags.
