The schema of GN4 2.0 contains a type, tBarcode, which allows the configuration of the barcode. It is defined in Tark4Include.xsd.

The following GN4 elements have a “tBarcode” element defined:

•Title

•Section

•Zone

•Edition Number

This allows a “cascading” setup for barcode: if the newspaper has different editions, each with a different ISSN, the ISSN can be associated to the GN4 element that identifies the different publication (ex. Zone or Edition Number, generally). If all publications have the barcode on the front page, then you can simply configure in one place the “Page Number”: against the “Title”.

The ISSN in the “Title” configuration is the main one, which indicates where GN4 should get the ISSN from for every edition. If the customer has only a single ISSN, this is defined in the “Title” tBarcode element; otherwise here will be written a string that says where the numeric ISSN is stored:
