An automatic preflight for linked images (when files reside on disk, and not in database) is performed on opening of the page in Fred4.

If some linked image files cannot be found, a list of all such images is displayed. When you click Close, Fred4 proceeds, opens the page, and displays such images as crossed rectangles.

The above problem may happen also the system cannot connects to the drive where images reside.
