The Tool for library objects allows you to assign a set of attributes to the elements of a library object. Such attributes provide for various automation, when such library objects are placed on a page or when they replace selected object(s) on a page that originally has different dimensions.
Tool settings are especially useful for:
•Single-step creation of complex multi-element objects, e.g. irregular frames, special borders, blocks with drop shadow and similar, which normally require more manual steps.
•Simplified replacing of multiple objects at once, such as headlines & legs, while preserving either dimensions, proportions and/or positions.
•Assigning to frames the auto-creation, auto-link and/or auto-formatting actions.
Tool settings are required for the automated page make-up.
Use the Tool palette in Fred4 to set the attributes for elements of a library object. To display the palette, on the Windows menu point to Palettes and then click Tool. In Fred4, press the F1 key to get the description of the Tool palette. To disable the tool on a library object you are dragging to a page, press and hold the CTRL key while dropping the object on a page.
