Each object belongs to an ‘object type’ which specifies the number and type of attributes the object can have, along with other information needed by the system to manipulate the objects. Each object can belong to only one type.

Object types are identified by a name that is unique and case-sensitive. Object type names must start with a letter, contain only letters, digits and the ‘_’ (underscore) character and not be longer than 26 characters. For example, ‘image’, ‘story’, and ‘my_events’ are valid object type names.
