This error occurs when you attempt to delete an item, e.g. an article, that is referenced by a link to a page, or to a publishing destination.

To correct this error

•If you are attempting to delete an article in the User Browser, this is a known issue: use Ted4 or Fred4 to spike an article and not the User Browser.

•If you are using Ted4 or Fred4 to spike an item, and it fails with the above message, you have two choices: to unlink the item from the page and to unpublish it from the publishing destination, or to use the command line commands. See Deleting referenced items by command line for this option.
