GN4 offers following several user applications: Ted4, Fred4 (known also as 'client applications'), Web browser (i4 or User Browser - GNPortal), GNXCapture for mobile devices, and plug-ins for the Adobe suite on Windows and Macintoshes.

Use Ted4 to work with articles and multimedia content. You can search and retrieve content, organize content, work and contacts and publish to Web and other channels, track Web production and display various reports. What you cannot do in Ted4 is to create and edit page layout, design pages, manage editions and import ads, and track paper production. To learn more about Ted4, see the Ted4 chapter.

Use Fred4 to create and edit page layout, design pages, manage editions and import ads, and track paper production. Fred4 contains all Ted4 and TedExtra4 functionalities. To learn more about Fred4, see Fred4.

Use TedExtra4 (that is a Fred4 with some functionalities disabled), to edit text on pages and do limited layout changes. TedExtra4 contain also all Ted4 functionalities. To learn more about TedExtra4, see TedExtra4.

Use Web browser to work with articles and multimedia content from anywhere, on any platform, without installing any software. You can search and retrieve content, organize content, work and contacts and publish to Web and other channels track Web production and display various reports. You can also review editions. Web browser may be available with the different configurations: I4, User Browser, Administrative Browser.

Use GNXCapture on a mobile devices (iPhone, Android, iPad) to upload content to the GN4 database. See Working with GNXCapture.

Use plug-ins for the Adobe suite on Windows or Macintosh to create GN4 content and pages when not using GN4 Ted4 and Fred4.

If you worked with GN3 applications in the past, see GN4 applications vs. GN3 applications and other topics in the Differences with GN3 chapter.

Note

System Administrators and Super Users may also use EdAdmin4 or Administrative Browser to customize or reconfigure the system.
